Display Board pt5

All the flocking is dry and complete and I have set up all the initial terrain I plan to use for the display. I'm still waiting on the water effects to arrive so I can add some in the ruts. I also need to add some glue to the thatched roof to get it to lay down. Initially I'll use it to display my Bolt Action German force in a tournament next month. I'm hoping to win best themed. I have left the buildings and other terrain elements removable so that I can customize it for skirmish games. Replacing the buildings with some half timber framed Saxon ones would make it work perfect for a skirmish battle. Could use it with Fistful of Lead rules Might and Melee set in early to mid medieval. I could put trees over the area were the log piles are to make the edge of a forest and run an ambush scenario.

Overall I am very happy with this. I learned a good deal and think I could make more tiles that go together. I didnt make this specific one with that though in mind so it might be hard to integrate it into others but it served as a good proof of concept.

Display Board pt4

Today I got the flocking done on my display/skirmish board. I used Army Painter flock and Huge Miniatures static grass and flowers. Glue is still drying in these photos so you can see it a bit through the flock. Next I'll add some water effects in the ruts. I decided not to flock the smaller fenced area so it could be used for live stock while the larger one will be a garden.

Display Board pt3

For the texture I added sand over the entire board though I used a coarser grit for the "wild" areas and a fine grit for the road and yards. I imagine the difference being the pulverized sediment from traffic, both foot and vehicle.

Once the glue had dried I painted over all of it using  craft smart Brown. Then a heavy dry brush of Golden Brown. I went back over the fine grit areas with a final dry brush of Khaki for a more exposed and dry look.

Next will come the flocking.

Display Board pt2

Next I took a sheet of 1/2 inch foam and cut it to cover everything except the roads, houses, and yards. Then I beveled the edges with my dremel and sanding tool. I wanted the roads to have a sunken and warn look. The house will be left removable for transport, storage, and use in other setups.
Next I glued on the 3d printed fences where I wanted them to go.

Fantasy Terrain

Other stuff I recently finished painting from my 3D printed backlog is this amazing set of raised terrain by terrain4print. I also finished up a test set up ruins and a summoning circle. All 3 from Thingivers.

Link for summoning circle:
Couldn't find/remember where I got them from.

The raised sections I printed (and their are many more available)  can be reconfigured in loads of cool ways. All these pictures are taken on my 2x2 skirmish board.

The steps are big enough for most minis on 25mm bases to stand.
Here it is all together with the summoning circle and walls. more individual photos below.

I chose a glowing green and I'm pretty happy with the effect. My only regret is it gives a very ominous feel to it which might not always be the case.
The wall bits come in lots of individual parts. I chose to glue some together in a way that would give options to put them together.

3D printed Statue

Spending my hobby time painting through a back log of 3D printed terrain. First up is this Warhammer inspired statue from Thingivers. I decided to add some bronze bits and weathered them up. Very happy with the end result.

AAR Relicblade

My wife and I got our first game of Relicblade in. She took the Battle Pigs and I took Bones & Darkness. We played a 76pt death match just to get familiar with the rules. Her toughness and superior numbers won the day as I started getting surrounded. I'm sure my Bones would do better in an objective based encounter.

Table setup depicting the ruins being fought over by the two factions. I went light on terrain for my normal standard just because I didnt want to clutter up the kitchen.

My beautiful and supportive wife is always willing to play a game with me. Mostly cause she enjoys kicking my butt.

First turn saw a general push by both sides with my Dark Watcher, the only real ranged character, taking up some high ground.

Second turn my wife charged in with her Ax Pig and immediately dropped my Bone Stalker.

My Dark Watcher never got a good shot off due to poor dice rolls. Even with so many plump targets.

My Dark Wanderer closed in with her Ax Pig who was joined by a Shield and Solider Pig. The started about 3 turns of us knocking each other down and then recovering. Finally the dice started falling in just her favor and I went down for good.

With my Dark Watcher the only one left and trapped in the 2nd story my only option was to jump. However I chose to conceded the game at this point as their was no real chance for him.
