Valley of the Wind pt7

Finished my Torumekia force from the movie Valley of the Wind, to include leaders. Really happy with how they came out. Next up I need to finish one of the other factions so I can start getting some games in.

Valley of the Wind pt6

Finished painting Princess Kushana and her aid Kurotowa to lead my Talmiki forces. While not super accurate I feel they will be easily recognizable by anyone familiar with the films.

Valley of the Wind pt5

To get the next miniatures to look right I had to try something new, that I had never done. I needed to sculpt some details with green stuff. I ordered some wax sculpting tools for cheap and garbed a pack of army painter green stuff from a box of stuff a friend recently gave me. When the tools arrived I still put it off for 3 more days until I worked up the courage to give it a go.

First thing I did was and a cowl to the miniature I'd use for Kurotowa, who serves along side Princes Kushana in leading the Talmiki forces. I'm not terribly happy with how it came out but it was my first ever attempt. I think it will be more passable with a paint job.

With that "success" I went on to add hair to the miniature I will use for Princess Nacasaraa, This was marginally more successful. Then I did the bushy beards and mustaches of the soldiers from The Valley of the Wind and those looked pretty good I think.

Valley of the Wind pt4

Next batch finished. These are the heavily armored units we see in the film that belong to Talmiki.

I really struggled with how to source these guys. At first I ordered a bunch of bits from Anvil Industry, Victoria Miniatures, and some Fire Forge Games blisters.
This was the end result:

Overall, with the paint job, I think they convey who they are supposed to be. However I was not completely satisfied. After some more research I was able to find some Perry Miniature French and British Agincourt blisters. Using those and some cloaks from Anvil Industry, I came up with these:

I was much much happier with how these turned out. I'll still use all of them in games though. Also there are some WW2 US & German bits from Warlord games and a few bits from from a Frostgrave soldier frame. Just basing left to do.
